What Lex Word does for you
inside Microsoft Word
Lex appears in a permanent side panel in Word. Select some text and click an action: Lex works directly in your document, with every change tracked.
Complete legal sections, drafted for you
Describe what you want to draft, for example "a termination clause for repudiatory breach", and Lex generates a complete section inserted straight into your Word document.
Clause improvement and rewording
Select a clause to improve. Lex proposes a more precise, legally sturdier wording with the relevant references, shown in track changes.
Citation checking
Lex checks that the cases and sections cited in your document exist and say what you claim they say. No more risk of citing an authority wrongly.
Internal inconsistency detection
Lex reads the whole document and flags contradictions, wrong cross-references between paragraphs and inconsistent definitions, before you serve or file.
Ready-to-use legal templates
Skeleton argument, defence, witness statement, letter before action, services agreement, settlement agreement: templates structured to English practice.
Automatic table of contents
Generate a table of contents that follows the hierarchy of your document, such as background, issues, submissions and relief sought, in one click from the Lex panel.
How to install Lex Word
in your firm
Automatic rollout through Microsoft 365
If your firm uses Microsoft 365 Business, your administrator deploys Lex Word in two minutes from the Microsoft 365 admin centre. The LegisBox tab then appears in Word for every solicitor automatically, with nothing for them to do.
Manual installation in two minutes for everyone else
Without a Microsoft 365 admin, each solicitor installs Lex Word in two minutes: Add-ins, My add-ins, then paste the LegisBox manifest URL. The tab then stays permanently in Word.
Draft with Lex inside your document
Open your Word document and click the LegisBox tab. The Lex panel opens on the right. Select some text, choose an action and Lex works directly in your document.
Most firms already run Microsoft 365, so the automatic rollout fits the majority. Microsoft documentation →
Lex Word in practice
in a law firm
A first draft of a defence
A solicitor opens the "Defence" template, describes the facts to Lex and receives a structured first draft. The solicitor refines it and Lex checks the citations. Illustrative scenario.
Checking every citation before filing
The day before filing a skeleton argument, Lex checks each authority cited and flags any that is misquoted or no longer good law. Illustrative scenario.
Spotting a contradiction in a services contract
Lex flags that the payment term in one clause conflicts with the date from which late-payment interest runs in another. Illustrative scenario.
