What Lex Excel does for you
inside Microsoft Excel
Complex legal calculations such as statutory interest, tribunal awards and limitation dates, directly in your existing spreadsheets, with no copy-pasting and no keying errors.
Automatic statutory interest
Select a cell with an amount and a date. Lex calculates interest at the rate in force, for example under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 or on judgment debts. Legislation on legislation.gov.uk →
Employment tribunal award calculations
Work out basic and compensatory awards directly in Excel, with length of service, weekly pay and the statutory limits applied automatically.
Automatic contract risk scoring
Lex analyses a range of cells and gives each row a risk score, colour-coded green, yellow, orange or red. Ideal for due diligence and contract audits.
Legal charts
Payment timelines, growth of late-payment interest, risk breakdowns: Lex generates charts and inserts them into your Excel sheet in one click.
Duplicate and anomaly detection
In a table of legal or financial data, Lex detects duplicates, outliers and inconsistencies, flags them and suggests a correction.
5 ready-to-use legal templates
Fees, due diligence, limitation calculation, statutory interest and client checks: five templates for the most common Excel tasks in a law firm.
How to install Lex Excel
in your firm
Automatic rollout through Microsoft 365
If your firm uses Microsoft 365 Business, your administrator deploys Lex Excel from the admin centre in two minutes. The LegisBox tab then appears in Excel for every solicitor automatically.
Manual installation in two minutes
Without a Microsoft 365 admin: Add-ins, My add-ins, then paste the LegisBox manifest URL. The tab then stays permanently in Excel. It works alongside Lex Word, and both can run at the same time.
Analyse directly in your sheet
Open your Excel sheet and click the LegisBox tab. Select a cell or a range, choose an action, and Lex calculates and writes the result straight into your cells.
Lex Excel in practice
in a law firm
Due diligence: scoring a schedule of contracts
A corporate solicitor loads a table of supplier contracts. Lex scores each row red, orange, yellow or green according to the risk clauses found, so the critical contracts stand out immediately. Illustrative scenario.
Tribunal awards: limits applied for you
For an unfair dismissal claim, Lex calculates the basic award and the compensatory award from length of service and weekly pay, applying the limits in force. Illustrative scenario.
Interest tables for debt recovery
A debt recovery team generates a table of statutory interest accrued on a list of debtors, with the rate applicable to each period. Illustrative scenario.
